Changing the world, one heart at a time

About Us

History

Beech Grove Church of the Brethren was established in 1878 with 50 members and was called Beech Grove because of the Beech trees that surrounded the church.

The name was first called “German Baptist” since the early settlers in the area were of Dutch and German ancestry, speaking mostly German. As time went on and English became the language most commonly spoken, Annual Conference decided to change the name to “The Church of the Brethren”, referring to Hebrews 13:1 - “Let brotherly love continue.”

To avoid confusion with our location (Beech Grove in Pendleton), we changed our name to Grandview Church of the Brethren in 2005 after moving to our new building.  This comes partly from our location on Grandview Blvd, which coincides nicely with our hope to extend God's Grand View to everyone.

Today’s Church

Our congregation supports a variety of ministries.  Locally, we offer many family oriented ministries geared toward the needs of today’s families.  We support several outreach programs, and have ministries focused on Parents who are striving to raise their children, and with the needs of children and youth who need to know that God is real, and cares for them. More information can be found in our Youth area.
